Carlisle School Has An App For That

It's been over 400 days since the country first closed its doors in order to 'flatten the curve'. In that time, there have been several ups and numerous downs. Of course, nobody knows these ups and downs better than educators. Most schools have a pretty solid system in place at this point. Many are opting into full classroom capacity again, while others are maintaining a virtual or 'hybrid' learning system. However, let's take a look back at when things were still a bit unknown.

Carlisle School, a private institution in Axton, Virginia, was determined to open up its doors on a regular schedule—and did so just before Labor Day weekend 2020. Many other school systems in the state chose to go virtual, but with the help of Carlisle School's mobile app—they were able to welcome students back to their 25-acre indoor/outdoor campus, should they choose to do so.

“[It] allows us to pre-screen students and staff before they arrive to campus,” Doss said. “Parents are adopting the app well and using it daily. By the end of this week, 100% of [our school’s] parents will be using the app.”

Carlisle was able to use their app, which is equipped with our COVID-19 pre-screening feature, to have their students and staff submit answers to a brief symptom questionnaire before returning to campus. The questions, being fully customizable according to local and state governments, helped administrators properly screen users before ever stepping foot inside the school. The answers are logged and stored securely, and school personnel checks the app associated with each student before going inside, to ensure they are not reporting any symptoms.

Since the inception of the COVID-19 Symptom & Exposure screening feature, it's played a small part in getting students and staff back on campus safely and without worry.
